Another Real Estate Investment Opportunity in Costa Rica

April 3, 2009 - Every week new real estate investment opportunities arise in Costa Rica. Since the real estate industry in Costa Rica is still taking a toll due to the economy, real estate investment opportunities are sprouting like mushrooms all over Costa Rica.

Cartago, Costa Rica is the latest area in Costa Rica that needs to be looked at for possible long term investments. As the capital of the Cartago province, Cartago is situated about 15 miles away from San Jose.

Due to its location at the base of the Arenal volcano, Cartago gets its share of tourists as well as an influx of local visitors due an annual pilgrimage where devote Catholics visit the national's principal church, the enormous Basílica de Nuestra Senora de Los Ãngeles, on the feast day of the Virgin of the Angels.

Recently, three of Cartago's top tourist sites have been getting a makeover.

The first site is the 17th century church ruins in Ujarra ¡s which has been refurbished and given more handicap access which was done in conjunction with the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo.

The other two sites that received well needed improvements are the The Mirador or lookout point in Ujarra ¡s and Orosi.

With the real estate prices in Costa Rica getting lower every day, real estate in these locations could be considered prime investment opportunities since the government is investing large amount of capital in these tourist locations in hope to increase their flow of yearly visitors.

This said, once the economy picks up and the number of tourists increases, a person who took advantage of the low real estate prices in this area could possibly start seeing a profit on his return a year sooner if he plays his cards right.

Another option would be to just sit on his real estate investment until the value of real estate increases in the area due to the high possible increase in visitors. Costa Rican real estate investors predict that in 3 years the real estate property value in that area could increase as high as 8%!
